Your contribution is essential
So why should you be interested in Dutch Habitat Platform? Of course, it's up to you to decide, but we can give you a few reasons why you should be interested. In our view, no one can ignore the rapid spread of urbanisation across the globe. There is a huge demand for practical knowledge and skills. Knowledge that you and your organisation may possess. You may already be active abroad, or be considering this possibility. By sharingyour knowledge with Dutch Habitat Paltform, you will contribute importantly to achieving the aims of corporate social responsibility. More and more businesses and organistione are realising that entrepeneurship is not just about money, but also about values.
Values like healthy and challenging working conditions, concern about the environment and, in an international context, human rights and labour rights. We set great store by such values at Dutch Habitat Platform. And we want to put you in touch with partners home and abroad, so that we can work together towards our joint aim: a sustainable living environment.
Showcases in the spotlight
These pages showcase practical applications using innovative instruments and methods, and the results that can be achieved. The Habitat Platform cooperates with organisations working in different ways to improve the residential environment and promote sustainable urban development. The focus is on Sub-Saharan Africa and Central and Eastern Europe.
Many examples of innovative instruments ands their application have been collected in ‘toolkits’ like Cities for people, Toolkit Citizen Participation and the Reference Guide Urban Poverty Alleviation. In addition, the Habitat Platform has developed together with a number of partners the City-Wide Approach (CWA), which can be applied in the context of city links but is also suitable for application in other kinds of human settlement projects.
On these pages the Platform puts the spotlight on projects and activities in which it is itself involved and which adopt an innovative approach. In addition, we want to give partner organisations the opportunity to showcase their own projects or instruments. So the In action! page will regularly feature a new instrument or example of best practice.
